Character's DW: volatile_vespa
Character's canon: Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon series
Brief (around 300 words) personality outline of your character:
Janet is a spunky young lady and loves to lead the exciting life of being a superhero. She is rather impatient and likes to sting first and ask questions later when dealing with super villains. That usually means she is rather impulsive as she dives straight into battle which might result in more harm than good. If she waited just a little longer in battle, she may not need to fight at all.
She can be rather stubborn when members of her team attempt to reason with her as she always thinks she’s right. Most of the time, Hank is able to successfully help Jan see the error of her mistake and she apologizes to the rest of the Avengers for her selfishness.
Janet appears to have a knowledge of science but usually does not engage in scientific experiments like Hank as watching chemicals bubble in a test tube is not as exciting as fighting the bad guys. That implies that she likes living life in the fast lane and sitting still bores her to tears. You would probably find her at a party rather than in a library.
Janet cares about the other Avengers as well. She helped Captain America when he was depressed over now being in the 21st century, and she was the first Avenger to befriend the Hulk, able to see past his monstrous form. Janet has shown the ability to work well and cooperate with all of her teammates.
An annoying trait villains find about Janet is her use of annoying quips during battle that pokes fun at their appearance or the nature of their crime. Her snarky comments almost always irritate and distract them, making it easy for Janet to defeat them.
Janet has feelings for her partner Hank Pym, and becomes annoyed when he shows more interest in subjects she considers boring, such as his scientific pursuits. She continually attempts to get Hank to open up to her and have fun. Passive aggressive behavior is a tactic she sometimes uses to stir up Hank’s emotions, such as flirting with other men or making snide remarks, though she does end up regretting it.
Despite her flaws and impatience, she has her heart in the right place as she fights villains for the greater good.
Brief (around 500 words) history and background of your character OR link to a really good wiki page with their history. In either case, explain where they cut off from the timeline:
Janet is a socialite and daughter of wealthy scientist Vernon van Dyne. At some point, Janet discovered that she had mutant powers, and kept this a secret until she met Dr. Henry Pym, to whom she revealed them. Janet soon after took up the moniker of “The Wasp” and became a superhero along with Pym, who became Ant-Man. Janet assisted Hank with his research, but was more interested in using her powers to fight super villains. She and Hank stopped the mutant Whirlwind from stealing a sonic device and brought him to SHIELD.
When the super villain breakout occurred, Janet and Hank assisted Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk in stopping Graviton from destroying New York. They formed the Avengers, and Janet helped in taking down many more villains, such as The Masters of Evil and Kang the Conqueror.
Janet was one of the few Avengers to initially befriend the Hulk, and when he was being manipulated by the Enchantress, he was able to snap out of it when he accidentally knocked Janet out. Later, she and the Avengers discovered Captain America, and she helped him get used to his new life in the 21st century. Janet and Thor teamed up to take down one of AIM’s research bases, and indirectly caused the creation of Wonder Man. The Black Panther requested the Avengers’ help in reclaiming his kingdom, and Janet fought the villain Claw alongside Ant-Man and Iron Man.
While the Avengers were chasing the rogue SHIELD gent Hawkeye, they were called in to stop The Leader, who had taken over the gamma villain prison known as the Cube. Janet was transformed into a wasp-human hybrid by gamma radiation and put under mind control, forcing her to fight for the Leader. She was changed back to normal after the Leader’s device was destroyed.
Janet was the first Avenger to be captured by the Masters of Evil when they invaded Avengers Mansion. She was soon freed by Ant-Man and proceeded to fight off the Masters of Evil, taking down Crimson Dynamo by flying inside his helmet and stinging him.
When a Kree Sentry attacked the Earth, Janet became passive aggressive towards Hank due to him not giving her more attention, but later apologized after he risked his life saving her and almost revealing his affections.
During Kang’s invasion, Janet suggested that they use Hank’s Ultron robots to fight Kang, which lead to Ultron going rogue and attempting to wipe out all life on Earth, and revealed her ability to grow when Ultron captured her. Janet and the rest of the Avengers helped stop Thor’s brother Loki from destroying the nine mythical realms.
Between Kang’s invasion and Ultron’s attack, Janet helped the Avengers fight off an army of ice creatures when the Earth was being affected by the Casket of Ancient Winters, and she helped put an end to HYDRA when it and AIM were fighting for the Cosmic Cube.
Janet cuts off from the timeline after season 1 ends.
Sample post (just a general, everyday, puttering-around-the-ship post; please include a snippet of dialogue):
Janet flew around all restless and bored. She watched all the movies in the media library, flew around the obs deck numerous times that she got sick of space and conjured way too many villains in the sensoriums that she grew weary of fighting them. To make things worse, Hank was cooped up in a lab somewhere on the ship. She thought they would be spending more time together ever since surviving the harrowing experience of fighting off Loki, Kang and all the other villains that were bent on taking over the world.
“I’m so sick and tired of this place. There’s absolutely nothing to do!” Wasp grumbled as her wings carried her around aimlessly and she stumbled upon hydroponics.
Nature was more of Hank’s thing but she could not help but be mesmerized by the beauty of it. “Now why have I not been here before?” She murmured to herself as she flew around to explore.
Give or take a few minutes but it was definite that Wasp would soon get bored of hydroponics as well.
If the character has magic, mutant, or otherwise metahuman abilities, please explain what they are and outline EXACTLY how they function, as their powers may not work due to the nature of the ship or may need to be limited somehow:
Wasp has the ability to shrink in size and grow a pair of insect like wings from her back to give her flight. Her primary form of attack is bio-electric stings that she shoots from her hands that can cause great pain and annoyance on top of their damaging effects. Wasp also has the ability to grow to giant size, but cannot use it often or for very long as it exhausts her easily.
Non-superhuman special abilities of note:
None.
